Award Ceremony for the Tan Kah Kee Science Awards 2010

The award ceremony for the Tan Kah Kee Science Awards 2010 will be held on June 9, 2010, at the 15th General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the 10th General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). The State Councilor Liu Yandong presents the diplomas and medals to the winners with CAS President Lu Yongxiang and CAE Presidend Xu Kuangdi.

The winners of the Tan Kah Kee Science Awards 2010 are as follows:
1. Bai Yilong, Professor of the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, wins the the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Mathematics and Physics for his innovative work on "Deformation localization, damage, and catastrophic failure in solid materials".
2. Yang Xueming, Professor of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in chemistry for the his innovative work on "State-to-state chemical reaction dynamics".
3. Pei Gang, Professor of Tongji University, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Life Sciences for his innovative work on "Novel physiological and pathological roles of -arrestins".
4. Li desheng, Professor of Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, PetroChina, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Earth Sciences for his innovative work on "Tectonics of Chinese petroliferous basins".
5. Wu liangyong, Professor of Tsinghua University, wins the Tan Kah Kee Science Award in Technological Sciences for his innovative work on "Sciences of human settlements".

Leaders from the National Development and Reform Commission(NDRC), Ministry of Education(MOE), Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST), the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT), Ministry of Finance(MOF), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE), Bank of China (BOC), China Association of Science and Technology(CAST), National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), the National Office for Science and Technology Awards etc, and the award-winning scientists’ family members attend award ceremony.
